**************I am going to Edit my answer here as I completely misread the question. ( I think I answered for what will I do with the prize money – for that the answer is below ) *******

But in terms of deserving to win, I completely agree with Matt and Marleen. We all have to do our best and that’s what matters. Deserving is a very insecure word.
That fact that we are all reaching out to raise awareness in our fields and helping the next generation to be more curious is rewarding enough.

      *****************************************
What will I do with the money if I get it?
In my early career, I treated children with cancer. They are so young to understand what is going on. What is cancer, what is radiation therapy, what are these big machines they are put under to get treatments? why do they have to come every day to the hospital for a month to get their radiation treatment? and many more such questions.
Yes, there are resources that explain to their parents or guardians as to what is going to happen and hospital staff is amazing in explaining the process to the children too.
But there is hardly any resources to connect with the child on daily basis. I am writing an interactive book that will answer all their questions and make them relate to what they are going through every day.
I want to raise awareness of what kind of people ( Doctors, medical physicists, radiation therapists, nurses, dosimetrists etc) are involved in their care and when they beat this cancer and grow up they can become one of these people and help save even more lives.

I want to use this Prize money to help me develop this resource book for Kids going through cancer and radiation therapy treatments across the globe.

I really don’t think I do deserve to win… My personal ethos is that “deserving” is a bit of an odd word with a bit of entitlement in there. I do not deserve to be a scientist, and to have had all the amazing experiences that I have; instead I am incredibly thankful for everything that I have. I think it is all hard work, with generous doses of luck thrown in 🙂

Every scientist here works for amazing causes, does incredible research (there may or may not have been a healthy amount of academic stalking to see what they do!) and would do a lot of good with the outreach prize. Of course I would love to win and help educate people on nuclear power and help avert the world’s energy crisis, but regardless of the winner I will be proud of the outreach work I have done through this wonderful idea.

I think all of us do well and try to answer as much and as quick as possible to all of your questions. And all of us have their own specialty and purpose with our research and ideas of what to do with the price money. I wouldn’t be able to say, that I deserve the price more than anyone else in this zone or another one, I think we all deserve the price 🙂

Well I think all the other scientists are far too humble.

I deserve to win because I’m awesome. I have eyes that can focus radiation, my body can convert waste into electrical and thermal energy and is built of trillions of moving parts and billions of sensors, I can perform millions of calculations a second and on top of that, the atoms in my body were forged in stars.
