That answer depends on what you define as a scientist 🙂 if it just means being interested in sciences, curious and being thorough in investigating and getting to the grounds of this, I would say that happened already during my teenage years. If it means having a degree, I got my first degree after 3 years of study for a bachelor’s. I needed another 2.5 years do to my Master’s as I used the ERASMUS program twice to study in a foreign country and needed an extension for my final project. If that still isn’t enough to qualify, after working in industry for a while, I started a PhD degree, the highest level of studying, and am now on it for about 5 years part-time and hopefully finishing this year. So technically I’m still in training. Does this count being a scientist? If not, I’m afraid I am not a scientist yet 🙂

I agree with Marleen – it depends on what you call “being a scientist”! I spent 4 years studying for my degree, and will spend another 4 years studying for my PhD 🙂
